Gift cards, vouchers, coupons and store credit can produce different order data even when the customer’s final payment looks the same. Separate the value of the goods, the shipping price shown at checkout, and the amount still to pay.

Choose the right concept

Paying with a balance is not inherently a discount on the goods. The extension implementing that balance determines how it is represented in WooCommerce.

Check checkout shipping separately

Smart Send’s price and free-shipping rules use WooCommerce cart values and qualifying coupon information. A discount can move the cart below a free-shipping threshold. A coupon’s free-shipping permission must also match the selected method’s configured conditions; the mere existence of a coupon does not make every service free. Follow the shipping configuration examples for exact settings, tax assumptions and expected checkout results.

Check the booked shipment value

Smart Send reads post-discount item amounts and order totals when preparing a booking. Gift-card payment needs separate attention: WooCommerce Gift Cards redemptions are currently not added back to the shipment-level value, so an order funded by a gift card can have an understated shipment value. See the canonical gift-card compatibility limitation before using those values for customs or value-dependent carrier services. Do not assume a different voucher or store-credit extension represents balances in the same way. When evaluating your configuration, compare an ordinary paid order, a discounted order and an order paid partly or fully with the balance. Check the checkout shipping price and the shipment’s value as separate outcomes. Resolve discrepancies before booking a shipment that depends on those values.
