Create shipping labels for your orders directly from the Shopify admin interface. The Smart Send app automatically generates labels using the configured shipping methods.

Create a shipping label

This is how it looks to print shipping labels: Creating shipping labels from Shopify
1

Navigate to the order

Go to the Shopify order you want to create a label for.
2

Click order actions

Click the More actions button at the top and then select the Generate label action.
3

Print the generated label

Print the generated label on your printer.

How label creation works

The Smart Send app handles label creation intelligently:

Existing fulfillments

If fulfillments without tracking numbers already exist:
  • Creates a shipping label for each fulfillment (as separate colli)
  • Uses the existing fulfillment structure

New fulfillments

If no fulfillments exist:
  • Automatically creates a new fulfillment
  • Adds all unfulfilled items to the fulfillment
  • Generates the shipping label

Label information

Each shipping label includes:
  • Carrier information (Bring, PostNord, etc.)
  • Tracking number for shipment tracking
  • Delivery address from the order
  • Return address from your Smart Send settings
  • Package details (weight, dimensions)
  • Service type (standard, express, etc.)

Printing labels

After generating a label:
  1. Review the label preview in the popup window
  2. Click “Print label” to open the print dialog
  3. Select your printer and print settings
  4. Print the label on standard label paper
Make sure you have the correct label size for your printer. Most carriers accept standard 4x6 inch labels.

Label management

  • Labels are automatically saved to your Smart Send account
  • Tracking numbers are added to the Shopify fulfillment
  • Customers receive tracking notifications automatically
  • Labels can be re-printed from your Smart Send dashboard if needed

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues creating labels:
  1. Check your shipping method configuration - ensure rates are properly linked
  2. Verify carrier connection - make sure your carrier is connected in Smart Send
  3. Check order details - ensure shipping address is complete and valid
  4. Review fulfillment status - check if items are properly fulfilled
